I took this fight in Shooto Boxing less than one week notice. I didn´t know so much about the rules. But I knew it was similar to K1 only with throws and standing submissions. I got to face one of my idols “Mach” Sakurai. I didn’t have to cut weight because “Mach” wanted it to be -77kg (I prefer -70kg). I thought the match would be 5 rounds. So I had a game plan for that, but they changed it to 3 rounds. The first round was pretty even. In the second round Mach hit me with a good punch so I stampled back and I got an other punch and fell down. Then he gets me with the knee when I was on the ground. I got a down count. Mach got som confidence from that. In the 3rd round I think I won the round. He got a little bit tired I tried to throw him but too heavy to get points. After the match I thought I had litte too much respekt for Mach I was little angry with myself that I didn’t try harder from the beginning. If the match had been 5 rounds I think I could have won.

I think Shooto Boxing is fun with its rules, explosive sport. The event was well organised with stars like Andy Souwer. The best part of the show was the girls who walked with us in the pressconferens and the opening ceremony.
