You don’t hear the name Sauli (11-3-0) that often nowadays. But he is active in Finland, has defeated Diego Gonzales in ADCC qualification. BJJ brown belt Sauli still keeps the grappling crown of Scandinavia and prepares for a fight in December.

Asgard: Congratulation to your win in ADCC Finland where you defeated Hilti’s tough grappler Diego Gonzales in the final. Tell us about the final.
Sauli: I don’t remember the details. But I think that after I was taken down I swept him. Passed the guard and attempted back mount choke. Diego took it off and I caught him in side choke. He took it off again. I chased him hard but he was tough. We went fulltime and I won in point. That’s it.

Ａ：アブダビ・フィンランド大会優勝おめでとうございます。試合を振り返ってどうでしたか？

詳細は忘れたけど、ディエゴにテイクダウンされた後フリップしてパスガードして、バックとってからチョークをかけたんだけど、はずされて、それからサイドチョークかけて、またはずされて、フルタイムまで追いかけたけどディエゴはタフでつかまらず、結局ポイントで勝ちました。

A: Can you give us your comment of last ADCC match in New Jersey?
S: I won in the first fight. Then I lost to Flavio Armeida who has made silver in the category. I think the fight to Flavio was good I attacked him hard and tried a flying triangle. I lost him in point he has passed my guard.

Ａ：ＡＤＣＣニュージャージーはどうでしたか？

初戦は勝ったんだけど、次がフラビオ・アルメイダで、フライング三角とかやったりしてまわりから善戦したと褒められたけど、結局パスガードのポイントで負けました。

A: People are interested in your training. How many hours are you training in a week and the menu?
S: Depends on… 1 or 2 trainings a day and usually no training during weekends. I run and lift weights in the morning. In the afternoon I do kickboxing, BJJ and wrestling. That is the basic menu…

週末は練習なしで、月曜から金曜まで一日午前中と午後の２回。午前は走ったり、ウエイト。午後はキック、ＢＪＪ，レスリング。

A: Who is your coach and sparring partner now?
S: My coach is Jari Ilkka. Sparring partners are Thomas Karlson, Tompa, Jarkko Mekela and Harri Niva.

S: I will fight in FinnFight in December, which has Shooto match mixed too. I am not sure to fight in Shooto rule or Finnfight rule. Nick Ossei is on the plan but don’t know yet. Is he good? I don’t know him. I will fight in 83kg may be. Markus Halkosaari, Mauri Ylijoki, Thomas Karlson, Jerry Kvarnström are fighting there too.
