Per Eklund - Training at Team Quest part2
By Asgard • Jun 29th, 2007 • Category: Photos, ReportsTuesday morning 0800 my alarm rings and its time to go up and get some breakfast before training. My breakfast is almost the same everyday, oatmeal porridge with some fruits and a triple protein drink that gives me a really good start of the day. The training start 1100 and on Tuesday it’s conditioning with Ryan it a really good workout with a lot of different exercises and lasts about 40 min it’s the worst 40 min.
I have experienced (really hard workout). After the training i hang out at the academy and just relaxed before eating my lunch. At night it’s official team training and it’s starts 0800 at night. The training was really fun we started with some technique training Thierry Sokoudjou showed really good Judo sweeps and how to break your opponents balance after that we did a lot of sparring with small MMA gloves starting from standing and work the clinch and takedowns. The team training normally lasts for about 1hour and 30-40 min. I was so tired after the hard work that I could not fall asleep my body was aching from top to toe.
Wednesday morning I trained with Thierry and Joe and we did mostly sparring actually it was Joe who did most of the sparring 12 round. Me and Thierry switch every second round, Joe has a fight coming up in about 2 weeks so we try to help him get in shape. I still feel a little pain in my neck so I took the day off to heal and it was worth it.
Tuesday morning started as usually with breakfast and then directly to the academy but today I had really bad luck with Ryans car that I borrow sometimes didn’t want to start after stopping by Starbucks to get some coffee for myself and the guys at the academy so a had to walk to the academy ask someone to drive me back to parking where the car was parked really bad because it started and went like 1,5 meter backward before it stopped. And of course when I got back to the car it started again. Today a night I trained 0800 and that’s team training we did a lot of good drills a lot of boxing drills to help you shorten the distance to make your takedowns easier Joe is a really good trainer. After that we sparred first boxing then kickboxing then boxing with takedowns and so on. In the end of the training i grappled with Ryan and Vinicius they are both really good on the ground especially Vini he is 3 times world champion in BJJ. But I got really surprised by Ryan he is GOOD on the ground!
Now I’m going to sleep I’m really tired i haven’t trained like this since I was in Brazil and that almost 3 years ago. Tomorrow we are going to Tijuana Mexico Art Edwin and Fernando is going to fight on Saturday it a quite big event the will send it on Mexican national TV.
Good night! /Per
