Nordic MMA Ranking

By Asgard • Feb 16th, 2007 • Category: Nordic MMA Ranking

Do you find your name here? I have been thinking long time to assemble fighters in one ranking list and see what honorable capital we have in Scandinavia. This newly made ranking has been born in 4 Scandinavian countries cooperated with Fightermagazine Finland, MMA Reporter Denmark, TBJJA Norway and Asgard MMA, studied not only the fight record but also carefully scored the quality of the opponents. We hope you to understand the purpose of this ranking as 1.To work for the fighters and fans to indicate what he is and where he is as the pilot lamp to show the way. 2.Also to make quality matchups to activate and support MMA. If you find yourself in the wrong place in the ranking or inappropriate scoring, let’s rock’n roll and change this rank.

1.) The ranking includes only professional MMA fighters* of nordic origin**
2.) The ranking includes only active fighters in the last 12 months.
3.) The ranking is based solely upon the fighters’ professional mma record****

[professional MMA fighters]: Fighters who have fought at least one bout with rules that allow striking on the ground

[Nordic origin]: Fighters who have established themselves in one of the nordic countries

[Professional MMA record]: Fight record which includes all the bouts contested under rules which allow striking on the ground

  1. I think you should include Icelandic fighter Arni Isaksson as a welterweight.

  2. Thank you for the message. The subject is taken to approval. Please wait for a moment.

  3. Hi my name is Frodi Hansen. MMA-record 2-2-0. I am an mma fighter from Denmark. I have had 4 mma fights since may 2005. My first fight was at Upcomingfighters may05, where I after only 3 months training fought Leo Neves BJJ blackbelt living in Sweden. 2 and third fight where in Mixedbattle 3 and 5. These first 3 fights where with B-SHOOTO rules. My last fight was a A-SHOOTO fight in Junglefight 6, against Danilo Indio from BRAZILIAN TOP TEAM, in Manaus Brazil apr06. From now on I will only fight A fights and it is difficult fore me to get A fights here. My next fight will be May 21 2007 in SHOOTO-BRAZIL in Rio De Janeiro. I have not been to good in making marceting fore myself untill now, I have been busy training and fighting. But in future I will get better. I write to you so you can put my name in your ranking. I have three fights in -83kg and one in -76 kg, but my next fight in Rio will be in 76kg and I will fight in this weight in future.

  4. Thank you for the message and your cooperation. Your record will be taken in the next examination. Please wait for a moment.

  5. Come on guys, Diego Gonzalez has to be ranked number 2 and Arni should also be up there with the Welterweights.

Good rankings though, just shows how many talented Scandy fighters there are right now.

  6. Come on, didnt Mattias Awad make it to top ten in Welterweight: -77.0 kg ?

  7. I’m replying on my own behalf as one of the persons who maintains the rankings. Thank you for all the comments.

Arni Isaksson was a question mark when the first version of the ranking was made. Does he only have parents from Iceland? I was under the impression that he lives and trains in Ireland. Am I correct? If so, for how long has he been doing so?

Thank you for leaving a post, Frodi. You will be considered in the upcoming rankings. Same goes for Ian’s comment on Diego. He has been doing well lately and that will reflect in the rankings.

Mike: Mattias definately would be in the welterweight top ten. It’s just that he fought the last time in 2005. If a fighter is included in the ranking, he must have fought in the preceding 12 months.

More comments and opinions are welcome.

  8. Tuomas,

As far as i know Arni moved to Ireland to train with John Kavanagh, but before that he trained in Iceland, and was learnign the ground game at SBG Ireland. But he is an Icelandic national and as far as i know he is currently back there now whilst he is inactive.

I can double check this to be sure if you want.

But i do think the rankings are pretty good and reflect the talent that is out there.

    Ian

  9. Dan Evensen got a 10 - 2 card. And got a fight in UFC.

  10. Alexander Gustavsson in -93???
