Q: You have such a wonderful record. I have heard that you have been to the Amateur MMA Finnish Open and defeated all the Finnish fighters and won the tournament. And this time you made the first pro victory in Travelfight in Uppsala. Please, can you explain how your fight went in Uppsala to Blazej? There are people who hasn’t seen the fight.
Im not sure I remember the entire fight. But I think he landed a really hard overhand the first thing that happends so I tried to clinch him. We exchanged some knees, the clinch breaks. I shoot and I get him down, passes the guard and start to unload punches until the referee stops the fight.
Q: What did you know about the opponent?
I knew he was a little bit bigger than me. He was good standing up and fond of GnP. So I was in for a war.
Q: What impression did you have for Blazej before the fight?
I said hello to him in the warmup area and talked a little bit to him. He seemed like a very nice and humble guy. But he looks really dangerous thou =)
Q: ha! ha! He does! Were you nervous before your first pro fight?
Yes, I was very nervous. In my dressing room before the fight I kept telling myself that I was stupid for making myself go through with this. But I felt relaxed and calm when I entered the ring.
Q: How did you prepare for the fight?
I sparred a lot and drilled valetudo techniques at my gym Stockholm Shoot and I did some sparring sessions with the nice people at Pancrasegym.
Q: What did you miss in the fight?
I really wanted to do punches because I have worked a lot on my boxing but my instincts took over and the fight ended up on the ground.
Q: All right. You have been training mma for 3.5 years. Why and how did you start mma ?
I used to wrestle and do Kung fu as a kid and I wanted to do something what
you could both kicks and wrestle. Shootfighting or mma, as everyone calls it today, seemed like the perfect sport for me.
Q: Which is your best fight? And the reason?
This Blazej fight of course =). I felt very relaxed during it and I got to hit my opponent and the ground for a change. Also very exciting to perform in a big audience.
Q: Who are your instructors in your gym?
The maininstructor is Joakim Lundgren he is very technical and educational he mostly teaches us ground techniques. Jesper Hallberg, Joar Palm and Kristian Lexell teaches us valetudo and stand up. We also borrow Swedish best boxing trainer once a week from Djurgårdens boxning. He is called Andrew.
Q: You have only 1 lost in the triangle against Hoang Ba. Can you explain what has happepned there?
I was not mentally prepared for that fight and I also underestimated Hoang’s ground game. He caught me in a very nice trianglechoke. He was the better fighter that night.
Q: What kind of fight style do you like and what do you want to show in the ring?
My strength is the groundgame. And I feel very comfortable with both
submissions and ground & pound. But I am working hard to become as good
standing up as I am on the ground. I want to become complete so that I can
push the action both on the ground and standing.
Q: Who are your favorite 5 fighters in the world?
Genki Sudo
Shogun Rua
Takanori Gomi
Hansen
Sakuraba
I enjoy watching unortodox fighters who brings alot of action into the ring.
Q: Who are your favorite 3 Scandinavian fighters?
Hansen of course, he is an animal. So good both standing and on the ground
and with a scary killer instinct in the ring.
Martin Kampmann is such a tough guy and looks crazy calm while fighting.
Bielkheden, what can I say first Swedish in Pride, amazing achivment.
Q: Your favorite 5 submissions to use?
Anything that looks cool. I really like the twister.
Q: Can you tell me about the amature championship in Finland how the
tournament went?
The guys from our gym almost won all of the fights so we had to face
eachother in the finals. But we fought hard against one another. My teammate
Oscar Sollevi almost knocked me out in the final =).
The trip to Finland was alot of fun and a good experience.
Q: You fought against your mate? Man, that’s really cool. What do you think important in your training?
To have fun! Otherwise you will never develop.I also think it´s important to spar with many different styles and not to spar with the same guys all the time.
Q: BJ Penn or GSP?
Tough one, I really like both of them. BJ beacuse he doesnt have a six pack
but beats on people anyway =).
Q: Do you think Aoki is easy for Hansen?
No! Aoki is crazy good. Have you seen his standing armlock vs Keith Wisniewski? That was the coolest thing I have ever seen in mma. It will be a battle between two amazing grapplers. But I think Hansens standup will take Aoki.
Q: Thank you for your time, Petter. You are only 19 years old very young, talented and seems like you learn quick. I will wait for your next fight. Please show me your boxing then.
I will! Thank you and good luck with Asgard!
